Well, today is my second-to-last day at my current position.  Monday, I start a new job.  Between getting a new job and a new last name, the second half of 2015 is bringing lots of changes; good changes.

I am really excited about this new job.  As you know, I am an attorney.  Attorney’s rarely work 9-5 and, I knew that going in.  Originally, I wanted to be this high-powered trial attorney and I knew that this would mean long days and even longer nights.  However, in the 4 years I have been out of law school, I have discovered that I do not want to be a big shot attorney with no life.  I want to socialize with my girlfriends.  I want to eat dinner with my fiance (at a reasonable hour). I want to have kids one day and I want to go to their shows, concerts, games, etc.  I don’t need to be rich.  I don’t need to have status.  What I need to be happy is time.  So, I’ve decided to leave my current position and take a new position where I won’t have to put in extra hours.  I will still be an attorney and I will still be required to use all of the skills and knowledge attorneys are required to have, but I will only have to work 9-5 Monday through Friday.  No more ordering pizza at the office at 7 pm on Tuesday.  No more Saturday mornings in the office to show face.

I am pretty nervous about starting this new job and I am sad to be leaving the people at my current office.  However, I feel like it is the right decision for me professionally and personally and I am excited about the possibilities.
