So Mike and I have both been feeling a little (lot) stressed lately. So, last week I decided I was going to plan a special, relaxing night, just the two of us. Sunday I went grocery shopping and picked up a few extra items, including a box of Whoppers, a Kit Kat bar, beef jerky, an Almond Joy, and a box of Reese’s Pieces. Then, on Wednesday, when I went home on lunch, I stopped at the liquor store and picked up a bottle of Relax Riesling and two bottles of red wine.
Now, Mike generally gets home from work way before I do. So, I had to set things up on lunch so everything would be ready for him when he got home. Here is what I did:
I know. Total cheeseball right? That’s what my co-worker called me when I told him about it. I can’t help it though. I live for cheese! And…Mike was VERY excited. He sent me a text as soon as he got home saying how cute I am. Then, when I got home, we cut up some cheese, poured the wine, and had ourselves as fantastic little date night in.
First, we played the game of Life, the Family Guy addition. It was great. I hadn’t played Life in many many years. I’m pretty sure I played it wrong when I was younger though. I do not remember it being as complicated as it was the other night. That could have been the wine though. Regardless, I kicked Mike’s butt. I even won the gold medal in the Special People’s Games.
Then, after kicking Mike’s butt, we ate some more cheese, opened a second bottle of wine, and played “Would you Rather”. I found the game online while creeping on this blog post: http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2013/01/32-stay-at-home-date-ideas-plus-links.html . It was definitely a good time. We laughed and laughed and then Mike found a dirty version of the game (because he is a boy) and we laughed some more. The questions definitely sparked a lot of interesting conversations.
Then, the conversations got a little more interesting. While creeping on another blog, I came across this list of questions to ask your boyfriend: http://www.corebloggers.com/blog/fun-questions-to-ask-your-boyfriend.html . We didn’t go through all of the questions. In fact, we didn’t even get through half, but the questions we did get to led to some great discussions. By the end of the night I felt relaxed, loved, and slightly buzzed. It was a great little date night.
