Lent starts today. What will you be sacrificing? Me? I’m going to give up junk food. No chips, pretzels, cheez-its, goldfish, candy, cookies, etc. For the next 40 days, I will be healthy and conscious of what I put into my body.
In the past I’ve given up things like biting my nails or swearing, but they never work. Unfortunately, both just come too naturally for me and half the time I don’t even realize what I’m doing. As a result, I can never make it the whole season and no real sacrifice is made.
I have considered giving up cheese because I LOVE cheese, but between no meat and no cheese, I have no idea what I would eat. Maybe I’ll start working on pinning some new recipes that don’t have cheese in them so I can be prepared for next year. I’ve already started a Pinterest board for meatless Fridays. Feel free to check it out if you need some ideas.
I have also considered giving up beer and/or wine, but I just signed up for Club W and have my first wine night planned with the girls for Monday. Plus, St. Patty’s day falls during lent and I can’t imagine not indulging in some green beer. I figure I’ll have to give up alcohol for nine months (or more) when I’m preggers (eventually). Therefore, there is no need to make that sacrifice now. What about you though? What will you be sacrificing this year?
