The Top 5 Reasons I Run

As you know, I recently signed up for my fourth half marathon.  As I mentioned in my last post…I hate running.  So, a lot people asked why I do it then.  In answer to your question, here are the top 5 reasons I run.

#5.  It’s mindless.  I can daydream all I want.  I actually use my time running as time to have important conversations in my head.  Helps me think about what I want to say, before I say it.  More people should run so they too can think before they speak.  However, when running on uneven surfaces, it is best to keep your mind in the game.  Those raised sidewalks can come out of nowhere!

#4.  It’s all mental.  Whether I stop or go is completely up to me.  Whether I speed up or slow down is my choice.  When you run, your only competition is yourself.  I am all about mental toughness and exceeding my own expectations.

#3.  It helps stop me from killing someone.

#2.  I get to eat more!  I love food.  I track my workouts and my calories in MyFitnessPal and the more I exercise, the more I get to eat/drink.

#1.  It keeps me healthy.  When I workout I am more conscious about what I eat.  Therefore, I find myself making better choices when it comes planning my meals.  So, i’m working my muscles, getting some cardio in, and making better food choices.  As such, I’m much healthier than I would be.
