Tips for Registering for your Wedding

Mike and I went and registered for our wedding the other day.  I have to admit that I was a little nervous.  I had heard that registering is not a fun experience.  However, my experience wasn’t really that bad.  I chalk it up to the following things:

 1.    I made a checklist.  I found a few registry checklists on Pinterest and from those, I made my own checklist to work off of.

2.    I did my research.  I went on the websites for BB&B and Target and just took a look at what they had.

3.    I picked out color schemes for the bedrooms.  I went on Pinterest and picked out some bedrooms that I liked.

4.    I got together with Mike and went over the checklist and color schemes prior to go out and actually registering.

I feel like because we had an idea of what items we were looking for, we avoided a lot of the “do we really need that” and “those are ugly” arguments in the store.  Additionally, when picking out bedroom stuff, we had already decided on colors so we didn’t have to spend a ton of time trying to pick stuff out.  We still had some disagreements about what we liked, but they were easily resolved and both of us were able to compromise.

I know Mike wasn’t looking forward to the experience, but I let him have the gun and that seemed to help.  I did question my decision though after he registered us for a gold-platted turtle, a pillow with a picture of a cat on it, and paper plates.  He thinks he is so funny.  Overall though, I think registering was a good experience.  It made me very excited for this new life we’re starting together.  Less than four months to go!
