Today I want to tell you all about my bridal shower in Buffalo. Because I have friends and family spread across NYS, I had two showers. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law put together my shower in Buffalo. It was such a nice shower! The shower was held at a family friend’s house and was catered by a local restaurant. My mother-in-law couldn’t let someone else do all the cooking though. She made bread, cupcakes, and cookies for everyone to have. Everything was delicious, but the homemade bread was a huge hit!
Now, I have to be honest, I was incredibly nervous before the shower. I don’t know if it was because I was going to have to open up gifts in front of people or mingle with some of Mike’s family I didn’t know yet, or if I was just having excitement butterflies, but boy were there butterflies! Thankfully my mom, sister, and some friends were at the house helping me get ready before the shower and after a few minutes of being at the shower, all my butterflies went away and I was able to really enjoy the day.
Now, I am NOT into bridal shower games. However, I know that games are traditional so I said that I would be okay with any games that didn’t require my participation. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law came up with some really cute ones. One of the games, I’ll refer to as “Mint to Be”, required guests to guess how many mints were in a jar. My sister won of course. According to her, she is really good at those games, which must be true since she won.
Another “game” they had was a cookie cutter poem. Every person at the shower received a mini bottle of wine with a little treat and a cookie cutter. All the cookie cutters were in different shapes. My mother-in-law then read a poem and if your cookie cutter shape was referenced in the poem, you won a prize! It was really cute.
After the game came the presents! I received so many nice things and the shower made me realize how generous people are. However, there was one gift I wanted to share with you all because it was so cute! I love candles and so at the shower Mike’s sister gave me a ton of candles. However, the candles went with a cute poem that she read aloud. It was very sweet and I had never seen it done before. Below is a picture of the poem. So cute!
Ultimately everyone left the shower with a little prize and there were all sorts of prizes from soaps and lotions to nail care products to real maple syrup. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law put a lot of time and thought into my shower and it showed. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing it was. Here are some more photos.
